Good news for Parcel B

Good news for Parcel B

At tonight’s City Council/Redevelopment meeting, the head of community development announced that (a) public workshop(s) will be held to discuss the future of Parcel B. The date will be announced soon.

Parcel B has been undeveloped for around 25 years. It is located in the heart of the Heart of Screenland – with the iconic Culver Studios on one side, Culver Hotel on other, the town plaza, nearby Actors’ Gang theatre at the Ivy Substation, and it is surrounded by the restaurants that have put CC on the gastronomic map. This prime plot of public land in our downtown needs a project that will serve the community, draw visitors, encourage local business; combine livability and perennity. In other words, it must demonstrate vision. Clearly the question of Parcel B goes beyond the current economic downturn. It must look beyond today, or as one speaker at the meeting tonight pointed out; it has to transcend space and time – look beyond it’s own boundaries into the larger community, and survive beyond the next few years. With Metro on its way, CC has a unique chance to define itself to the region. We can’t waste this opportunity… Which is why I’m so glad that the public will be able to become a part of the process.
